Quiet Sanctuary

Okay. It may seem strange to you. The front seat of my car has been a place of refuge for many years.

The car is one place in my life which offers total silence, although I’m listening to the baseball game at the moment. (No sounds of irritated exasperation from my husband is pleasant.)

Oh, by the way. I’m parked at a shopping center, windows rolled down to enjoy the cool night air. If the ballgame was not on I would be listening to classical music.

You might wonder why I call this experience a sanctuary.

Like you and the two other folks reading my posts, I own my own business. Being self-employed means we have 3 jobs:

  • working on behalf of our clients and customers
  • developing marketing and communication channels to nurture and attract clients
  • managing administrative responsibilities.

When I retreat to my sanctuary, all the wears and tears of the day are put at bay. My mind quiets and I think of nothing. Or as it happens tonight, I think of you and wonder, “Where do you find sanctuary in your busy day?”

I smile at your place of peace, for I often do the same (even to the baseball game or wordless music — usually a movie score).

and the more quiet the parking lot, the better. Thanks for sharing this – I’ll think of this “conversation” every time I go to that quiet spot from now on. Thanks:-)

      Maybe it’s a redhead-ism?
